Pampas Galeras is a natural reserve located 90 km east of Nasca, and belongs to the Ayacucho region. This place has the highest concentration of vicuñas in Peru, and is part of our national shield as our animal wealth.
The excursion begins with the pick up of our clients, and then we will depart with address to the reservation located at 2 hours by car. Along the way, stops will be made to take photographs of the incredible landscape of the mountains of the Andean area and you can also see Cerro Blanco, the highest sand dune in the world.
Once in the reserve you will visit a small museum where we will know about the animals that live in this area and our guide will explain everything about the reserve and the vicuña. In the place there are no restaurants or shopping centers, only some families who live many years in the place and are dedicated to selling basic things like coca tea for altitude sickness and some basic food dishes.
Then it will go to the highest part of the area located at 4500 meters above sea level, where every year in the month of June 24 there is a traditional festival called the “CHACCU”. In the course of the way we can see vicuñas walking in small groups of 10 approx. And you will have enough time to take the best photos.
At the end of the tour we will return to the city of Nasca and then you will be taken to your hotel.
